Autobiography
How do you control and channel the curiosity, energy, and creativity of a child who needs to understand and solve absolutely everything? You don't. Armed with an endless passion to take things apart and put them back together again, I was constantly getting into everything as a kid. As a result, I often found myself challenging people and the world around me – a quality I retain today. Why? I simply refuse to accept one explanation for what is and how things came to be. Of course, this type of precocious behavior as a child in the midst of wise and well-informed adults landed me in hot water from time to time.

With maturity and some behavioral fine-tuning, I've managed to channel this insatiable curiosity to amass nearly 20 years of sales, service and operational experience within a variety of industries, including telecommunications, healthcare, real estate, high technology, retail and non-profit. This experience includes strategic and operational planning, mergers and acquisitions, starting and growing small companies, technology application design and implementation, network and system optimization, building and managing call centers, and human resource management and information systems. A B.A. in Liberal Studies with a business concentration from Marymount University provided the necessary foundation to further expand my generalist abilities.

With these diverse skills, I have successfully led organizations in executive operations and service roles through high-growth and restructuring periods. More recently, as Senior Director of Operations at Homestore.com, my responsibilities included developing infrastructure and assisting in the spin off of a division that developed a transaction management system for the real estate industry. At Genesys Conferencing (formerly Vialog), I oversaw corporate integration initiatives through the merger and acquisition of six business operations, eventually leading to an IPO. Other companies that have benefited from my leadership and expertise include MedChannel, Net2000, and Bergdorf Goodman. My for-profit successes and competencies have allowed me to transfer this knowledge and successfully serve the boards of several community non-profit and political organizations. To date, I am most honored to have helped plan and build San Francisco's LGBT Community Center - a $15m project that was the first and largest center in the country to be built from the ground up.
